ENTRY DESCRIPTION
When we purge the Air tanks on a Truck w an Air Brake system at end of Day. We usually open the purge valves to slowly release the air and excess moisture in the tanks. This moisture accumulates through normal operation. Well some Air dryers are better than others. If this moisture is allowed to remain and freeze in the tanks, well that would not be good. The valves are left open over night and the problem is ambient air can backfeed into the tanks through these same valves. So what if we could install another Valve that would be between the tanks and the purge valves. These valves would close when the pressure got to be around 10 PSI inside the tanks. This way we could keep some pressure in the tanks, More than atmospheric. In the morning we would close the Purge valves as usual and go about our system checks/tests/pretrip before rolling. This valve system would be most desirable for vehicles that maybe parked for extended periods between Air system build ups.... Just a thought.
