our universe is expanding faster than the speed of light. as our universe is expanding the EM waves coming from distant galaxies also stretches as they are moving through space-time fabric. stretching light wave means that wavelength of a light wave is increasing. Shorter wavelength light waves have more energy than longer wavelength light waves. due to this, stretching of lightwave while moving through spacetime should dissipate energy along the way. this is because of the law of conservation of energy that states that energy can neither be created nor be destroyed. this dissipated energy may contribute in cosmic microwave background radiation that we see observe today in space. energy dissipated is equal to the current overall temperature and entropy of the whole universe.
